Is the U.S. recession making it more difficult to find jobs in Phoenix and other states??

I am moving to Phoenix area after the New Year. I have extensive restaurant experience, and will be looking for a job once I get there. Any tips on cool/hip places to work?

And what about if you are a college graduate in Psychology (Graduated 8 years ago and now age 32)?? Which place are there more jobs and easier to find one?? Thanks.

I'm looking in retail as assistant manager or manager and my husband is an economic consultant/analyst. Of course we are willing to do other jobs if it's necessary..thank you.
